Chennai Super Kings have one of the best opening pair in the form of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway. Ruturaj Gaikwad has been in terrific form in Vijay Hazare. Chennai Super Kings went allout for Ben Stokes and bought him for Whopping 16.5 Crore in IPL Auction 2023,this will boost Chennai Squad more.

The Biggest Strength of Chennai Super Kings are their allrounders. They have some of the world's best all-rounders in the form of Ravindra Jadeja,Moeen Ali and new addition Ben Stokes and Shivam Dube. Even if they play 4 bowlers still they can have 7 bowling option on any given day. Addition of Ben Stokes will boost Chennai Super Kings Confidence as he can be the anchor of Chennai Super Kings team as he did for England in T20 World Cup which they won recently in Australia and can bow 4 important over at any stage of the game. Both Ravindra Jadeja and Ben Stokes are also the best fielder in the world.

Weakness of Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023:

The biggest weakness of Chennai Super Kings is they don't have proper death overs. Deepak Chahar is a new ball bowler and MS Dhoni usually use him in Power Play,  some he bowls 3 overs in PP. CSK failed to rectify this problem during IPL auction 2023. Another weakness of Chennai Super Kings is that they don't have proper middle order batters ,they do have Ambati Rayadu but we don't know how his form will be ,sometime he can be hot and cold.Lack of form of Moeen Ali and Shivam Dube can also be worrisome sign for the CSK,team can struggle to post good score if top order fails. With addition of Ben Stokes this can be solved to some extent. Also they don't have a proper finisher as we know MS Dhoni is not the same peak Dhoni we know. So if their is a batting collapses then their is chance that team may struggle.

The other Weakness of Chennai Super Kings is they have only two good Indian pacers,Deepak Chahar and Mohit Chaudhary are only two Indian pacer CSK depends on,as we all know Deepak Chahar is injury prone,so CSK don't have good Indian pacer as back up for him. They do have a service of Tushar Deshpande, Simranjeet but they are inexperienced. CSK should have gone for experienced Ishant Sharma in auction.

Threat to Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023

The Biggest threat to Chennai Super Kings in this year's IPL are injuries and availability of player for full season.Chennai Super Kings has already hit with injury  as Kyle Jamieson has been rule out of the IPL 2023 due to injury and CSK Management announced Sisanda Magala as the replacement.Ravindra Jadeja is coming back from injury,even though he is back fully fit and performing in ongoing BGT 2023,but sustaining full IPL season can be challenging. 

Ben Stokes availability for full season is also one of the concern for team Management. As per the report,Ben Stokes may not be available for knockout if CSK make it to the playoffs,as England have Test Match against Ireland and Ben Stokes can leave early,but it is need to be seen,what he decide,but still it is concerning if he decide to leave for the test match. 

As per the saying "Too many cook spoils the food" is true for CSK,as they have service of Mitchell Santner but he fails to make to the playing XI of CSK most of the time due to team combination and sometime too many all rounder can spoil the party.

Opportunities:

The is probably the last season in which we will see MS Dhoni in Yellow as a player and Captain,so it will be the last chance for Dhoni to win the IPL trophy for 5th time equaling with Mumbai India and ending the Career on high notes and fans will also be wanting and hoping their Idol Dhoni to win the trophy for one last time.

Deepak Chahar also has the opportunity,he has lost his place in Indian team due to injury and this can be brilliant opportunity to perform well and make a come in Indian squad for World Cup 2023. Ben Stokes and Ajinkya Rahane too have a chance to make impact in this year's IPL as Ajinkya Rahane is now out of Indian team,so he also has a point to prove.

Ravindra Jadeja has been in form since returning from injury and Ben Stokes as we all know was Man of the Match for England in T20 World Cup Finals,he is big match player, a lot will depend on these two player if Chennai Super Kings want to win IPL title this year.With their allrounder ability both of them can win matches for CSK single handedly.
