Sri Lankan Captain Kusal Mendis refused to Congratulate Virat Kohli after his historic 49th ODI Century Equally Great Sachin Tendulkar's record of most ODI Centuries.

Kusal Mendis was in pre-match press conference ahead of their of their match against Bangladesh in World Cup 2023 in Delhi, when a reporter told him about the Virat Kohli's 49th ODI Century and asked Kusal Mendis if he would like to congratulate Virat Kohli for his historic hundred. To that Mendis gave shocking reply "why would he congratulate Virat Kohli".

On 5th November 2023 Virat Kohli Scored his 49th ODI Century against South Africa in World Cup Match. On slow pitch of Eden Garden Virat Kohli played a masterclass inning and reached the landmark in 119 balls, thus helping India post 326 in 50 overs, Virat Kohli remained not out. This Century helped Virat Kohli to equal Sachin Tendulkar's record of most ODI Centuries of 49. In this World Cup Virat Kohli has smashed 543 runs with 2 Centuries and 5 half Centuries.

Sri Lanka will face Bangladesh today in Arun Jaitley in Delhi amidst toxic pollution of Delhi. Both teams so far had forgetful tournament and will be fighting to qualify for Champions Trophy 2025.
